Carin Lundin


Born in 1966 and grew up in Växjö.
The music teachers Allan Rogers, Birgitta Jöneteg and Anette Riel provided inspiration and desire for further music studies.

The Ballet Academy's Musical Line
in Gothenburg 1985-87.

Birkagården Folkhögskola in Stockholm in 1988-89, where the teacher Janne Sjöblom recorded the entire Real Vocal Book on cassettes, inspiring further jazz singing studies.


Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm
1989-93.
The best teachers were: Iréne Sjögren, Ola Bengtsson, Göran Lindberg, Ragnhild Sjögren and Bengt-Arne Wallin.

In 1990, received the Academy of Music's travel grant to go to Holland and take singing lessons with the jazz singer Deborah Brown.


Started singing jazz with bassist Sture Nordin
at "Bolaget" in Sthlm in 1989.


Continued with Lennart Nyhlén, Bengt Hansson, Janne Sjöblom, Roger Palm and Calle Lundborg at Mosebacke, Skansen, as well as with Maffy Falai and Bernt Rosengren at Lilla Maria in Stockholm.

Sung with Leif "Ös-Loffe" Norman and the Riksjazzbandet at Stampen, and in SVT's "Striptease" New Year's Eve 1991.


Worked as a show waitress at the pub Wallmans Salonger, 1991-94.


Duet with Peter Jöback at the Cole Porter concert at Chinateatern, Stockholm.

Tour with Arne Domnérus, Svante Thuresson, Leif "Smokerings" Andersson and Gösta Hägglöf's Royal Blue Melodians in 1993.


Sung at the Stockholm Jazz and Blues Festival on Skeppsholmen in 1993 with Johan Hörlén, Lennart Nyhlén, Janne Sjöblom, Bengt Hansson, Johan Dielemans. Broadcast in SR.'s P2.


Soloist with Jan Slåttenäs Glenn Miller Orchestra at the Konserthuset in Stockholm, sang among others.

A duet with Carli Tornehave.


Started singing with Kjell Fernström, Ronnie Gardiner, Arne Wilhelmson, toured with trumpet legend Roffe Ericson in 1994.


Jazz club gig with Ken Peplowski, Roffe Ericson, Sture Åkerberg, Kjell Fernström in 1995.


Received Föreningen Jazz i Växjö's prize JazzOskar in 1995 with the justification: " because with his singing, Växjö was on the Jazz map."


Entertained in SVT's "Entré" spring 1995 with Pekka Heino, sang among others.  A duet with Svante Thuresson.

 

Driven and played guitar, behind Rebecka
Törnqvist in TV3's "Roland" in 1995.


Performed with Chilean jazz musicians at El Club de Jazz, Santiago, South America in 1996.


Showed in several programs of SVT's
"Sommarnöje" from Örebro in 1996.


Released debut album "From dusk to dawn" (PCD032) on Prophone Records in March-97.

In 1998, received Nalen's Friends' scholarship "Topsy's Thousand Crown" for activities in the spirit of Nalen and Topsy.

Was awarded the Stiftelsen Jazzens Muséum's Anita O'Day prize in 2007, with the justification:

"Carin Lundin is the musicians' favorite singer and she manages well the jazz musical heritage from the great singers Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, and of course Anita O'Day with one for Swedish singers completely unique timing and jazz feel.”


The fourth album "Smulor och parafraser" (PCD095) came out at the end of 2008 and received glowing reviews, among others.
